TRY-ANGLES _ AUTODESK

When employees and visitors enter Autodesk's Boston headquarters, they are welcomed by Try-Angles. This installation was inspired by the STL file format which is often used to communicate with most digitally controlled machines. We used algorithm driven design software to generate the paneling pattern, the perforation pattern, and to design all the aluminum clamps that keep the structure held together as one piece. Each panel is unique, and each clamp is unique; 436 Clamps and 277 Panels. Thus, Try-Angles also features a detailed labeling system that was developed in parallel with the design of the structure. The sculpture is suspended from the ceiling and surrounding a column. The intent was for people to circumnavigate around Try-Angles and experience different views as they explore.
